Questions we get every year.
Didn't find your question? Ask it in your consultation call.
Is this really realistic for me?
In most cases, yes, and it doesn't depend only on grades. 99% of our students were admitted, with an average of 3.4 admission offers. That happens because the list is built the right way: 30% reach universities, 40% that match your data exactly, and 30% where your chances are high and there's usually a merit scholarship too. That way you always have somewhere to go, and still a real shot at an excellent school. In the intro call, we'll tell you honestly where you stand and what's possible.
When should I start, and what happens if I start late?
Ideally a year before the application deadline. That keeps every SAT date open (March, May, June, August, October, December), lets you take the test twice and use your best score, lets you apply early (Early Action, November 1), when chances of admission are usually higher, and covers the entire scholarship window. Nine months before is still excellent. Six months before is possible, just tighter: one SAT date, regular application (January 1), and fewer weeks for essays.
What's the difference between the SAT and the Psychometric?
The SAT is shorter (two and a quarter hours versus more than three), with no Hebrew verbal section and no shapes: just English and Math, with a built-in Desmos calculator. It's more predictable, because the same 20 question types appear on every test and you can learn them one by one. It's cheaper, you can retake it and use your best score, and it's accepted at universities in both Israel and the U.S., including for scholarships. A score of 1400+ is worth roughly 700+ on the Psychometric.
My English isn't good enough. Is this even possible?
Yes, and that's exactly who the course was built for. Everything with us is in Hebrew: the calls, the explanations, and the course. The English chapters start from vocabulary and the basics and build up gradually, with a Hebrew explanation for every answer, including your mistakes. In English you learn the elimination method: instead of hunting for the right answer, you rule out the three wrong ones, which works even when you don't know every word. Students who came in with "rusty" English left with 1500+. You write your personal essay in Hebrew first, and only then translate and polish it.
How much does it really cost to study in the U.S.?
Less than what's on the university's website. The full price is a starting point, not what you pay: 92% of our students received a scholarship or financial aid, more than a million dollars in total. An example from a real plan: $85,000 full price per year, $47,000 in scholarships and aid, $38,000 actually paid. We build your list around your budget from the start, and for each university we calculate the net cost after scholarships before you apply.
What SAT score do I need, and what does it open up?
It depends on where you're aiming. 1200+ opens good public universities, usually with a partial merit scholarship. 1350+ opens top universities and most of the Top 50, with a real chance at a significant scholarship. 1500+ is the range of the Ivy League and the Top 20, where your score is no longer the obstacle and your application is what decides. Our students' average improvement is more than 180 points, and your target score is set in advance based on your university list.
How do you choose universities? Just by name?
No. We start with a questionnaire of about ten questions on what matters to you: field, selectivity, campus size, location and climate, budget and scholarships, Israeli and Jewish community, sports, and jobs after graduation. We separate what's required (a maximum budget, for example) from what's nice to have (such as the weather). We cross-check that with each school's admissions, cost, and scholarship data. Within five business days you receive a list of 10 to 15 universities, with chances of admission and net cost for each one, and you approve every change to it.
What exactly does the full guidance include?
Six stops, one personal case manager, all in Hebrew. Tests: a complete SAT course and English test prep. Strategy: the questionnaire and the list. Applying: the Common App, activities profile, letters of recommendation, and the personal essay in five stages (4.5 drafts on average, 100% submitted on schedule). Funding: every university's aid forms, merit and outside scholarships, and a comparison of your offers. Interview and visa: mock interviews in English, then the entire student visa process, including a mock consular interview (98% approved the first time). Landing: housing, insurance, a bank account, course registration, and a plan for your first 90 days.
What is TEC, and why does it matter?
Almost every university in the U.S. requires an official evaluation of your Israeli matriculation certificate by a recognized organization. TEC, The Evaluation Company (formerly SpanTran), is one of the most recognized and widely accepted of them. USAcademy is the official representative of TEC in Israel: we handle the evaluation for you, with no running around, and our students pay less.
Can I take only the SAT course, without the guidance?
Yes. The course is also sold separately: 61 recorded lessons (33 in Math, 28 in English), more than 2,200 test-level questions, 12 full timed tests with a report after each one, and a direct WhatsApp line to our instructors seven days a week. It's a 10-week plan, about six hours a week. For full guidance students, the course is included at no extra cost.
What happens in the consultation call, and what comes after?
A fifteen-minute intro call, free and with no commitment: we check where you stand, what score you need, and which track fits you, and you get a free SAT mini-course. Next is a Zoom call with the student and parents, also free, where we go through the whole process. You sign only after you understand exactly what you're getting. Then the SAT course and university questionnaire open, and within five business days you have a list.
